What is yoga?
Yoga is a practice that strengthens the mind, body and spirit. Achieved through the use of breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation (dyana), and postures (asanas). Yoga is not just a self care tool, but a lifestyle promoting increased quality of life.
What equipment do I need to practice?
A yoga mat, and a water bottle for hydration. Optional items include a yoga block and strap.
What should I wear to practice?
Comfortable loose fitting clothing, or breathable athletic wear.
How long are your classes?
45 minutes to 1 hour long.
What does a typical class look like?
The first few moments are spent settling into relaxation, centering and activating your breath. Next begins a slow warm up of gentle movements, activating your body. Next comes a sequence of postures and movements activating the entire body. Lastly ending in savasana for your final relaxation
Can anyone practice yoga?
Yes! My classes are all inclusive regardless of race, age, gender or body type.
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! We all began somewhere. I teach from a standpoint with newbies in mind. Unless the class specifies advanced level. Classes are welcoming to beginners.
What if I have a injury or medical condition – can I still practice yoga?
Athough I am a medical professional as well as a yoga teacher I ask that if you have pre existing medical conditions or injuries that you consult with your physican prior to attending class. Also I stress intuitively listening to your body when performing movements and postures, so not to over extend yourself.
Are you certified?
Yes, 200 hr certified yoga teacher.
